5 Good Ideas
Too many politicians just concentrate on South Carolina’s problems. It’s time to start talking about Solutions. Here are 5 good ideas for South Carolina. Read more and join the discussion on our Solutions Center page.
1. Create New Opportunities - The Upstate has been hit hard by the loss of manufacturing jobs. We need to provide those individuals who have lost their jobs an opportunity to attend technical college and four-year universities at an affordable cost so that they are prepared to work in a new global economy.
2. Improve State Infrastructure - We need to make our state more attractive to companies looking to base their operations in South Carolina. This means better roads, more green space, and statewide high-speed wireless Internet access.
3. Promote Small Business - We need to create conditions for small businesses to prosper. This means reducing taxes, making health insurance more affordable, and giving local entrepreneurs the same tax advantages we give major corporations.
4. Stop Illegal Immigration – Illegal aliens strain our public services and taxes, through our educational system, our mandated health coverage, and public welfare support systems. We must immediately reform our state identification system, law enforcement practices, and citizenship proof for services to make South Carolina far less attractive for those that break our laws.
5. Reform Health Care - Our hospitals and doctors are required by Federal law to treat all who come to our emergency rooms. Knowing this, many of the uninsured, indigent, and increasingly, illegal aliens use our expensive emergency departments to treat routine problems. The entire system must be changed to something that is rational, encourages all to pay their fair share, and encourages health and wellness practices, which prevent emergencies.
